CMAA transforms vinasse into fertilizer and reduces CO2 emissions

In its relentless pursuit of excellence and sustainability, Companhia Mineira de Açúcar e Álcool (CMAA) has taken a significant step forward with the inauguration of a new fertilizer factory. This groundbreaking initiative transforms vinasse, a common byproduct of sugarcane production, into a balanced liquid fertilizer. This is yet another advance by CMAA in the quest to mitigate climate change.

 

By converting vinasse into an organic fertilizer, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions, it also decreases the reliance on chemical fertilizers in production by up to 50%, thus reducing the environmental impact of agriculture. These benefits also extend to the company with the reduction of costs associated with fertilizer production and an increase in sugarcane productivity.
